These Service Specifications are for District Health Boards (DHB) that Oranga Tamariki—
Ministry for Children (Purchasing Agency) contracts with to provide Gateway Assessment Services (the Service). These Service Specifications have been agreed to by the Purchasing
Agency, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education.

The Gateway Programme is an important response to our most Vulnerable Children and Young People. It is part of the Children’s Action Plan, which is the Government’s framework
for protecting Vulnerable Children, and also includes Children’s Teams.
The Gateway Programme delivers a comprehensive health assessment and education profile service for Children and Young People engaged with the Purchasing Agency for care
and protection reasons. The overall objective of the programme is to enhance the Child or Young Person’s physical, mental, educational and social wellbeing through the identification
of unmet needs and make referrals to appropriate services to address these needs. (From the document). This document may be updated from time to time.
