This publication represents a select group of complementary strategies that reflect the best available evidence to help countries sharpen their focus on priorities with the greatest potential to reduce violence against children. This group of strategies contains evidence-based interventions that are classified as effective or promising, and it also includes prudent practice. To be classified as effective, the program models had
to meet at least one of these criteria: a) at least two high- or moderate-quality impact studies using randomized trial and/or quasi-experimental designs find favorable, statistically significant impacts in one or more violence against children domains (maltreatment, bullying, partner violence, witnessing intimate partner violence), or b) determined as “recommended” based on the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force review of evidence for reducing violence.
