Adams, J.
Domestic violence legislation Adams, J.; Kearns, Lynda - Wellington New Zealand Law Society 1996 - 36 p.
This paper, presented at the New Zealand Law Society Seminar, May to June 1996, was written as an aid for the interpretation of the Domestic Violence Act (1995). It considers the historical context of its predecessor, the Domestic Protection Act (1982), to provide a reference point. Further discussion of the Act covers procedure of protection orders, acting for an applicant, acting for the respondent, and the obligations of the court, registrar, police, and counsel. Key concepts of the legislation are also discussed. The consequences of the Act for parents and children are traversed in the final chapter.
