Effects of a parenting skills programme on the parenting attitudes of teenagers Doak, Carolyn - 2000 - 127 p.

Thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Psychology.

This thesis encourages a move in the direction of population wide primary prevention, by investigating the effectiveness of running a Parenting Skills Programme at a high school level, as a means of both reducing child abuse, while also promoting positive parenting. Students' parenting attitudes were measured using the Adult-Adolescent Parenting Inventory-2. Results reveal that students who participated in the Parenting Skills Programme developed enhanced parenting attitudes.--AUTHOR'S ABSTRACT
