- [Wellington, N.Z] The Society 2003
- 12 p.
This booklet presents the Royal New Zealand Plunket Society's policy and protocol on family violence. The policy specifically addresses acts of violence occurring between family members or within intimate partner relationships. Although the principles underlying the policy apply also to child abuse, Plunket's policy related to child abuse is presented in a separate publication. The policy covers maintaining protocols compliant with health, privacy and child and family protection legislation, providing education to staff and supporting them to meet responsibilities in relation to family violence, ensuring the principles of partnership with Maori are upheld, contributing to primary prevention and secondary intervention, and working inter-sectorally. The protocol sets out guidance in relation to identifying clients experiencing partner violence and taking action, including establishing safety plans.
