Fighting for my life : the confession of a violent offender Joseph, J.J. - Auckland, [N.Z] Exisle Pub. 2008 - 176 p. ; 24 cm.

Foreword by Celia Lashlie

In 2006 JJ Joseph was convicted of a violent assault on his wife. His subsequent detention meant there was a very real possibility that he might never be reunited with her and might not see his children again. This book is Joseph's personal account of his journey towards change, written over a period of six months. It is a raw and honest account of what he has done to his family, the type of life that he has led and shows insight into his upbringing and the cycle of abuse. He details the legal and emotional journey that he has gone through to be reunited with his family and the awareness and understanding of his own behaviours that he has gained on the way. The book may be of use to those who have experienced family violence from perpetrators to victims and those who are working in the family violence sector in Aotearoa/New Zealand.
