Social Work Review 10(4) December 1998 : 10-13
This conference paper discusses some significant issues concerning social work practice in the international context. It also examines the status of New Zealand social work for similarities and identifies how these are being responded to and progressed. Common themes that emerge internationally are: risk recognition, estimation and management, assessments, prevention, protection and education programmes and systems, collaboration between families and agencies, evaluation of social work processes, and interventions. The author argues for increased collaboration between social workers on a trans-national level to accelerate effective acquisition of practice knowledge, skills tools and methodologies.
