In this journal article the author outlines the significance of attachment, demonstrating the link between brain development and resilience. The author describes how children's attachment experiences influence their vulnerability and argues that patterns of attachment may be transmitted inter-generationally. The implications of this for assessments of vulnerability in the social work context are outlined.
