Netsafe commissioned Sense Partners to estimate the societal cost of cyberbullying in New Zealand. There is no commonly accepted approach to tallying up the cost of cyberbullying internationally. However, there is a broad consensus that bullying and cyberbullying are harmful. We have brought together a methodological approach, new survey data, and identified gaps.

The authors conservatively estimate that cyberbullying costs New Zealand society $444m a year in harms to individuals,
community and interventions. (From the Introduction). Record #5995
