This review of the literature on the reporting, investigation and prosecution of rape cases was commissioned by Her Majesty's Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate (CPSI) to inform this inspection. The brief required addressing a number of specific questions; this edited version is presented as an overview of the current state of knowledge.
